  2. steve30x says:

Just wish that there was a way to make Windows 7 look like XP. I much rather the windows XP layout (Theme , Icons , Explorer icon layout etc)

    • Rambo says:

sigh…. ur better off living in a cave!!!

      • bill says:

i tried to get dreamscene for windows 7 but i can’t find the file labeled %windir%\system32\en-US\

    • hendrik says:

And then hopefully a rock slide seals you in!

    • Nazmus says:

I would like the Luna (XP) theme in Windows 7. Not that I prefer it, it’s just fun to go retro once in a while.

    • 13dawg says:

Amen! Windows 7 is clunky. XP is clean. I love XP.

      • george says:

Get out of 2001 you fucking idiot. Windows 7 is gorgeous with Aero, and much more customizable. Also not to mention easier to use far as drivers, etc.

XP is old, and won’t even use all the power in newer quad-core systems that Vista/7 will use. 7 beats XP in benchmarks as well.

        XP was one time good

      • >>> says:

XP is ancient history, Win 7 is super.

    • C.C. says:

I like windows 7!!!!! More updated, coooooooler………..ahhhh, everything you want!!!!
      ^-^,
      C.C.

      • Dumb@$$Killa says:

Maybe some people like a clean, easy to navigate, useful OS, instead of something ‘neat’ and ‘cool to look at’. Graphical tricks are better left to video games and other software – totally unnecessary waste of hardware resources IMO to force it into the OS GUI. Maybe if I were a 10-17 yr-old I might think it was a big deal, but I don’t. You little tweenage fucks can go text yourselves.

      • Marcus says:

        : dumba$$killa,
your comments were completely relevant until you resorted to insults.
There are multiple reasons for the change to the look of the OS in Windows 7, if people don’t like the OS look, they can change it by turning the aero effect off. Simple as. There are a variety of themes both MS and third-party that make Windows 7 look retro, including the old fashioned XP zune theme. Unless you’re into running several programs at any one time, most computers running the Windows 7 OS will have significantly more memory than a computer running XP could ever possess, in which case, what’s the harm in changing the look of the OS in the first place?
Just to be a hypocrite, I will say “nice one, douchebag”. As for the whole teenage thing….let’s just say i was using Windows before you were even a concept in the making – and God help the rest of the window’s user community.
If you were in charge of Microsoft, we’d probably still be looking at boxed up icons in little shitty groups and not even have quick launch icons. We’d probably go back to the days of Windows 3.0. If you’re so perfect, YOU do something to contribute to the world of computing. Otherwise STFU.
Unless you’ve got valid arguments to bring to the table, I’d stay out of the discussion.

    • Resuna says:

I want a Windows Classic theme for Windows 7 that isn’t crippled.

As for the living-in-a-cave comments: the theme engine for Windows 7 seems pretty limited, you can’t get truly transparent window borders (what’s the point of making them transparent if you can’t read through it) and it’s horribly wasteful of space… I want to go back to something professional-looking.

      • Marcus says:

…the borders aren’t there to be read through – it would be impractical to make them completely transparent – can you imagine, for instance, reading the text under an icon immediately underneath the title bar of e.g. the explorer window? It wouldn’t just be impractical, it would be bug ugly.
The whole point of the aero concept is just to modernize the OS gui, because not everyone is aware of the software changes to the OS, they might as well make changes to the OS to imply that it’s changed in more ways than one. I would rather have the OS as it stands in Vista or 7 than in XP, which looks clunky, old and out-dated in more ways than one.

  3. Jay says:

If you like Windows XP then why do you want to buy windows 7, Windows 7 is really just for people who like to keep up with all the new tech – (when it is finally market released of course,) but in general Windows XP Pro is a very good system

  4. fuck says:

Xp is best. ms is wasting our money and time by saying to download…………… windows 7 is really bad…………..

  5. Gintariokas2 says:

Hey dudes, win7 is really good, that’s your problem if u dont know what u can make with them.. u see, win7 is stylish and more easyer to use, than other os. lol’s.

  6. Gamefreak says:

I have both Windows 7 and Windows XP Pro SP3 on dual-boot and I say both of them are excellent! I have no intention of removing neither for the near future!

Windows 7 is what Vista should have been like.

  7. Kris says:

Does anyone have the Windows 7 regional themes? Not just the wallpapers, but the sounds, walls, and windows color.

  8. [...] as double-clicking on them. We’ve added these themes to our ever-growing collection at our Windows 7 themes [...]

  24. Midget says:

  30. Chris says:

I don’t think we will see a full customisable theme program for a little while more considering how new 7 is and as well many ppl are still at awe over the system’s clean performance and gui. Lucky mac pulled the plug on it’s own processor and changed to intel otherwise mac would pwn pc over stability and performance. (Vista was just to rip some money to develop win 7)

  31. Joe says:

Ubuntu FTW!!! Very Stable and user friendly.

  32. Joe says:

Oh yea forgot to say. Ubuntu Linux uses less resouces than all the others combined.I keep seeing ppl say “Do some real research, Well those ppl need to add linux to the mix if there going to talk about system resources.

  33. knuckl says:

  42. Peter says:

Great list of Windows 7 Themes

  43. Richard says:

Hi, I’m Running Windows 7 Ultimate and stupidly ran the AlienGUIse software install.

It installed ok but windows explorer stopped working so I removed it.

Now all my folders are AlienGUIse themed and the only way to change them back seems to be manually.

    All 10000 of them!

Every folders icon has been changed on my PC and external drive.

Does anyone know of any software that puts all the Windows 7 icons back to their normal setting?

    Or

Does anyone know of any software that changes all of windows icons to something similar to windows 7 folders.

    Help!

    • Marcus says:

Yeah dude it’s called Tuneup Utilities. It’s the mutts nutts for clearing out your crap from your hard drive, sorting out the dead registry entries, and for restoring icons to their defaults. Check it out and download it – there’s plenty of sites where you can get it from.

    • Pay Attention! says:

      Just change the file association.

  44. Jeiman says:

People you really ought to do your homework before you make wild claims about which Operating System is better. Just because the GUI “feels” or “looks” faster doesn’t mean the OS actually performs any faster. Windows 7 eats up a LOT more resources than XP did. And XP in fact does support multi-core CPU’s. Windows always has been and always will be an inferior operating system when compared to any flavor of unix, linux, or MAC OS. Windows 7 is NOT faster than XP.. it’s close, but it is designed with newer systems in mind. So if you have a reasonably fast PC you won’t notice any difference in performance. If you’re a hardcore gamer who absolutely has to have as much resources free as possible, then XP may be a better way to go (or 64 bit 7 if you run applications that need more than 2gigs of ram). Each OS has it’s limitations and strengths, but saying one is better than the other without any kind of context is pointless.

    • IFatheredYou says:

How bout you suck on a cock? .. You don’t have to but I’m just sayin’.

      7 owns.

    • Pay Attention! says:

You could also run multiple processors in NT 3.5, 4.0, etc.. as well as 2k.

As for ‘having’ to have the latest and greatest (Win7)its not required. If you have applications or hardware that won’t work with 7 or is not compatible – revert back to what works.

  45. Chet says:

Windows 7 is working ok, it’s the rest of my stuff that doesn’t. I went from XP to 7. My printer, scanner, camera, MS Office 2000, navigation program do not work with it. It will cost me more that twice what I payed for my computer.

  46. Thank you for beautiful themes.

  47. SmartBoy says:

Everybody listen”" Windows 7 the best..so try it.. xp the lame and vista too so try windows 7. coz it uses less memory as well as it is fast and it has high performance, stability, it is also very attractive so…please use this wndows 7…..

    • Marcus says:

Hmm…that’s a fine statement to make about windows 7 being the best and the fastest. You wait until you clog your hard drive up with all manners of shit. I got HEAPS of stuff on mine. If it ain’t games, it’s music, if it’s not music or games, it’s development software. When you do that, and cram it full of stuff and run a load of other things and you got all the services running in the background – then it ain’t so fast at all – regardless of whether you max out your ram and shit like that or not.

As for Windows 98 themes….what the fuck? That’s like getting an xbox 360 or a ps3 to play the first ever space invaders game from back in the day when games were still loaded from cartridges and cassettes!
Nice job though. IF you like that kind of thing.

  48. Malinor says:

    Great soft and themes!
    THX!

Okay- first of all – you can disable the visual elements of Windows 7… So you can have the ‘clean lines’ etc.. like XP/2k.

Simply right click on your Desktop go to Personalization. Go to Appearance and Personalization and click on Advanced Appearance settings after unchecking Enable Transparency.

As for the insults etc… grow up people.

XP was the king …… In its days…… but now its looks like windows 7 is the emperor..

  53. main says:

Windows XP will Expire (updates) soon, So might want think to about that.
In Two years SP3 will not be supported

  54. IT DAY says:

I like very much for Themes windows 7.

  55. John says:

Having read through the list of comments – mostly insults actually, I must say you all come across as a load of potty mouthed fools.

There was hardly anything in the comments that had value to take away. No useful technical information, no brilliant insights. What are you all?

Overall, the ugliest collection of comments I have ever seen.

  56. John says:

While I think of it, I will add that I have dual boot XP/Win 7 arrangement, because although I find Win 7 more pleasant experience overall, fact is that HP won’t provide drivers for the Designjet 100 and K550 dtn printers that I use for my business, so I am forced to use XP for some of the more sophisticated printing functions and printer maintenance tasks.

Did you notice that I didn’t need to insult anyone or use foul language once in this email? You should try some self control sometime.

    Regards

    John

    • Marcus says:

Yeah well John, oh so very well noticed.
The only thing that really screwed that bit of self-righteousness up is that you totally botched it with an insult in the previous message. Well done – you made THE most redundant example of good behaviour I EVER saw.
      :P

  57. Thanks for the compilation. You can also check our Windows 7 Themes as they have received numerous downloads and several awards and recognitions from many of the top software sites all over the world. Hope you like our themes too and thanks for the compilation.

  58. Skynet says:

Windows 7 along with aero is a piece of crap! XP is far better. I hate libraries, I hate all the places appearing in explorer, I hate the taskbar (and notification area) button grouping, and so on. But I hate the moron bastards at MS who made these changes the most. Fuck you all!!!! :( ( Restore the XP look and behaviour. Otherwise I kill you. (Quote from Murphy aka Robocop) :)

    • Marcus says:

      “Silence, I kill you!”

Quote from Jeff Dunham and Achmed The Dead Terrorist. :P

Whilst many would agree with you, despite the fact that they would in the first place agree with you, Windows has been changed. So….tough. You’ll have to deal with it the same as the rest of us have to – that’s whether we like it or not.
There are ways and means of getting 7 to look and almost near as dammit behave like XP, but you’d have to google it. The truth is out there….so fido, the only choice you have really is to just go fetch, or stay with XP. Your loss really.

  61. Kamung says:

very cool theme windows 7 .

  62. Mechatism says:

I have been a software engineer for over 25 years and have worked with MS products since Windows 3.0, including alphas and betas of NT. I used to defend MS but now find I can’t.

The Vista/2007 theme was one reason why it was such a failure. It makes simplitic work easier at the expense of everything else, proving foolproof interfaces only satisfy fools. The reason for this change had to be marketing – too much competition. The 800 pound gorilla found it’s reception wasn’t ‘cool’, it was downright chilly.

The XP theme was clear, concise and powerful. It was also well known. This is why so many people stuck with it. Even my children prefer XP over Vista and 7, and they are gamers. My wife is a newbie to computers and started with Vista and Office 2007, receiving professional training. Now she prefers OpenOffice.org because it is simpler yet more powerful. She has also asked to try Ubuntu.

Windows 7′s performance is an improvement over Vista but it’s still too buggy for real work. Many of my customers are switching to Linux in preference to upgrading mainly because it is a more reliable OS. The user interface is similar to XP, making it a simpler transition than to Vista or Windows 7. Linux has all the necessary office apps and most of them are free.

I’m a software engineer. I get requirements from my customers too. The biggest FUBARs always come from marketing. The Vista/2007 theme is one such FUBAR. Linux and Apple will take more and more market share until this is reversed. A Windows 7 theme that truly duplicates the XP environment may get more people to migrate, especially if Office had an XP/2003 theme. Making Windows 7 reliable would be even better. Combining those may stop the drift to Linux and Apple.
