Windows 7 Upgrade Program Starts July 1st

Microsoft has released interesting information about their Windows 7 Upgrade Program. The most interesting detail would probably be that the program begins from July 1st 2009 until TBD. Could it be that Windows 7 will be released before then?

Of course, the other important part would be how the upgrade program will work. Starting from July 1 through TBD, anyone who purchases a PC with a qualified edition of Windows Vista will be eligible for a free upgrade. What this means is only the following upgrade paths would be available for those who purchase a Vista PC after July 1st:

  • Windows Vista Home Premium Edition -> Windows 7 Home Premium Edition
  • Windows Vista Business Edition -> Windows 7 Professional Edition
  • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition -> Windows 7 Ultimate Edition

This is great news for those who are planning to buy a computer but are unsure whether they want Windows 7 or not. Looks like Microsoft wants a quick way to replace Windows Vista.

with the economy in the dumps, and many ppl out of work, $200 sounds like a lot to me.
I could swing a $100, but if microsoft really wants to put vista to rest they should just give it away like an update. Had I known that vista was going to be such a pain in my ass i would have kept my XP machine and just ran it untill it was on its last gasps, and then shot it like a mad dog

I really need to ask this, does it work with all countries?
How can I guarantee that MS Saudi Arabia will offer this for me?
