Windows 7 Codecs
If you’ve been wondering why Windows 7 can play many of your media files out-of-the-box, it’s because Windows 7 now natively supports most popular formats including H.264, Xvid, and DivX. Even so, there are many other multimedia formats that Windows cannot play without the proper codec. To solve this problem, you can download a codec pack. A codec pack basically contains many other codecs required to play certain media files so you don’t have to download them one-by-one.
You may or may not want a codec pack. A codec pack would be good for those who want to view a variety of different media formats without having to download another media player, or for those who don’t want to worry about downloading additional codecs in the future.
Windows 7 Codecs is a codec pack specifically designed for Windows 7, and was created by the shark007, the same author who created the Vista codec pack.
The description on the website says that the codec pack will automatically remove most other popular codec releases and install new ones onto your computer. It also does not contain a media player or will not affect your file-type associations. You don’t really have to worry about this – he’s basically telling you what the codec pack does.

I use the KLite Mega Pack on my w7 and it’s working just as it should.
I don’t think the codecs will be a killer feature, I think than Microsoft has to put more effort in the redesign. I just wrote a feedback to Microsoft, tell me what do u think about the idea…

I think that’s stupid… Concentrate on how usable W7 is, not stupid animations.
Get a mac if you want animations.
If there is instability it has to be you. No way is Windows 7 unstable. Just because you have a machine requiring no mental input whatsoever, don’t view the real computing world by those pre-school standards.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is the best. It works perfectly on all common versions of Windows.

hi there, i have prob with tv tunner on win7, i see grey video in avermedia program when i had installed k-lite mega/ win7 codec pack + divx driver, did i ruin my codecs ? tv tunner is philips, and source is analog, system settings: pal/secam , i tried pal_n pal_m ntsc etc.. display in avermedia program is still grey, i dont see colors..

I installed win7 codec pack, but some movies get freezed at a point, and need to restart wmp. So smt is wrong

Thanks for this, however the codec didn’t work for me. Don’t know why…
i live in a house w/6 other adults who all have thier own comp.all diff.types and all have k-lite codec pack and no one has trouble burning dvd ect. i just got mine comp w/win7 and k-lite will not work.So i am going to try this hopefully i will have better luck.But either way i will write back and let everyone know.
