RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a great way for you to keep up-to-date with websites without having to actually visit them many times everyday.

That is an RSS icon or button. When you see this on websites, it means they have RSS feed available on the website.
It’s really simple. Every time the website updates, the “feed” will update with the latest articles. You can add this feed to your Internet Browser bookmarks toolbar, or add the feed to an RSS Reader. Think of it as an auto-updating newspaper.
If you use Firefox Live Bookmarks, you can easily check for new articles with a single click.
If you visit a lot of websites, an RSS Reader can give you quick access to the newest articles on all those websites, saving you a lot of time. They also usually have some nice features that allow you browse through articles quickly.

The easiest way for Firefox users would be to click on the RSS icon in the Address Bar, and subscribe to thefeed using “Live Bookmarks.” You can then choose to add this feed to your Bookmarks Menu, or the Bookmarks Toolbar that is usually below the address bar. I would recommend the Bookmarks Toolbar. Now all you have to do is click the website feed button, and a list of the most recent articles will show in a drop-down menu.
A similar feature may be available for you in Opera or Safari. If you are unaware of these features or you use IE, I would recommend using an RSS Reader. My favourite one is Google Reader, but there are many other ones out there. When you subscribe to the feed, select Google, and it will automatically add to your Google Reader.
I won’t tell you how to use one, because then I’d spoil all the fun. But once you understand the concept, the apps are all relatively easy to use.
In spite of all the excitement from what you’ve just learned, don’t forget to sign up to our RSS feed as well.
