A couple of Windows 7 beta testers faced a blue screen of death (BSOD) after installing some recently released security updates. The error message stated a failure on k11.sys and may be caused by a conflict with the Kaspersky Antivirus Program. WindowsFixUp discovered an easy fix for this problem. First, boot up in Safe Mode, which can be done by tapping F8 during boot-up. Once in Safe Mode, type msconfig into run, click on the Startup tab and disable Kaspersky and any related items such as k11.sys. Restart and you should be able to boot up fine.
Visit WindowsFixUp for step-by-step instructions on how to fix this problem.

The filename is kl1.sys and not k11.sys.
Which product of Kaspersky is used? Internet Security 2009 or the Workstation Solution (6.0.3.837)?
Workstation Solution

I was having this problem and the fix mentioned above worked for me. I was running the Windows 7 beta ver. of Kaspersky anti-virus. Any suggestions of another free virus program that works well with windows 7?
Well, it’s no fix… you’re just deactivating the protection xD
Avast Antivirus works fine and its free
i HAVE THE BLUESCREEN while installing Windows 7. It appears just at the beginning of Installation, shortly after the windows logo apears. Then I have a bluescreen with:
*** STOP: 0×00000124
Can someone help ???
Sory for my English, I am German
From a quick search on Google, I was able to narrow this stop error down to anything related to nVidia. Perhaps it’s a driver compatibility issue, perhaps you have buggy software from nVidia. I would suggest removing all nVidia related applications and updating to the latest Vista drivers if 7 drivers are on available. Try running installation again afterward.
If the error occurs during the installation, I do not think, that a nvidia driver should be the problem. Try disabling ACPI in BIOS and restart installation again.
Thanks Torsten and thanks Geo.
I will try it and report afterwards.
Maybe it is importand to know, that older versions of windows 7 are able to intall on my maschine.
HDD-Controller (z.B. SCSI, SATA, etc.)
Hi Torsten
Can not find an o portunity to disable ACPI in BIOS. Disabled some power options without success for installing Windows 7 without the fatal bluescreen.
Hallo Torsten

I had BSOD one time when I closed Windows Media Player after a playing of some video. It have never happened again. I have no Kaspersky Antivirus Program. Unfortunately, I was not ready to write the code down. I will hope it will never happen again.
fix
1. safemode, msconfig, uncheck kav in startup and services tabs
2. normal boot
3. uninstall kav
4. download kav again, install kav only with anti-virus module (others module not tested)
5. restart, update kav, restart
no bsod, enjoy
Recommend avast home and nod32 4.0
Too late, now I’m back to Win XP
I am having the same issues but with AVG Free edition (I suspect). Keep getting a variety of BSOD’s most notably being the ACPI error. This has only begun since I have updated from the beta to RC1.
Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated!
Try another antivirus. Avast and Antivir are not bad. Kaspersky gives a free 180 day trial
i recently had a Windows 7 problem. It gust shuted down. No bsod no nothing. What is happening.
P.S I am using Windows 7 built 7600.16385 x86

hi!
Guys BSOD as i go on to the internet windows 7 crashes at times not always. can’t figure out why.we use kaspersky 2010.
Is it kaspersky compatability with windows 7 or is it somthing else and how can it be fixed
please help
KIS 2010 (9.0.0.736) is fully compatible with Windows 7. For testing, I recommend you to uninstall KIS 2010 and have a look, if the BSODs still occur. If yes, it’s defintively no problem of KIS.
I have Windows 7 on my laptop and when I tried to do a fullscan with Kaspersky is when the BSOD came up on me. It keeps doing it any time I try to scan with Kaspersky.
I would like to keep running Kaspersky on my laptop so is there a fix that doesn’t involve disabling Kaspersky. I presume it was the update mentioned here so any help is appreciated.
I keep getting an issue with BSOD at varying times getting a RDR_FILE_SYSTEM error stating the RBBSS.SYS as being the issue, I am getting the on all 3 PC’s I am running on my home network, various scans have not found any issues (NORTON 360, SPYBOT), can anyone help?
After starting the PC, the screen gets all ‘Blue’ and after 1 or 2 secs, it reboots. There’s no interval of this error. Plz, in need of a solution. Thanks
Rubz, don’t know if this will help, but I was running CISCO pure networks on my machines, once I uninstalled this, everything has been fine since.
Keep getting BSOD – pretty much since installing Windows 7 …. what is this, it makes using my desktop non-existent. Downloaded AVG – has done nothing and did a free scan w registryfix but it said it didn’t accept 64 bit windows ???
