Windows 7 usage jumps 22% after RC release

According to NetApplications, Windows 7 usage has jumped 22% since the release of the Release Candidate. However, overall market share only amounts to 0.47% at time of writing. Windows 7 usage tends to increase during weekends while Windows XP usage trends tend to increase during weekdays. This suggests that testers are eager to run test out Windows 7 when not using XP in the corporate environment.

In comparison, overall market share for Windows 7 on Beta release date (January 9, 2009) was 0.04%. The following weekend (January 19, 2009), overall market share was at 0.13% with an increase of 0.09%. Overall market share on the release date of Windows 7 RC (May 5, 2009) 0.27%. Five days later, overall market share was 0.47% with an increase of 0.20%. Adoption rate for Windows 7 pre-release is now much higher due to a more stable Release Candidate release.
