Windows 7 Upgrade Program Date shifts again…

TechARP has updated their dates for the Windows 7 Upgrade Program again. The Update Program was previously expected to begin on June 28th, 2009 and has now been changed to June 26th, 2009.

This slight adjustment was done at the request of many OEMs to allow for better sales over the first weekend of the Program.

The program runs through until January 31, 2010. Anyone who purchases a computer with Windows Vista preinstalled between these two dates are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7. TechARP has now also added dates for when Microsoft plans to make marketing materials for the upgrade program ready. This really isn’t important to most readers, but the fact that this may increase the genuineness of the details or suggest a close release date may be interesting to some. The upgrade paths remain as follows:

  • Windows Vista Home Premium Edition -> Windows 7 Home Premium Edition
  • Windows Vista Business Edition -> Windows 7 Professional Edition
  • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition -> Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
