The varying expiry dates for leaked builds have raised several speculations to the possibility of a release date that is much later than what is anticipated. However, ITPro reports that Microsoft has confirmed Windows 7 will be released by January 2010 at the latest, if not even earlier. Microsoft said they plan to stick to their original promise of releasing Windows 7 no later than three years after Vista. In order to fulfil this promise, they would have to release Windows 7 before January 2010.
Currently, the Windows 7 timeline stands as this: The RC escrow is expected to be released by the end of April. The public release of Windows 7 release candidate will follow near the end of May.
