Windows 7 RTM set for September 2009

Windows 7 RTM set for September 2009

A couple of months ago, wzor.net reported that the RTM would be out by
August. However, Windows 7 Center has been notified by two reliable sources that the dates have changed. One of the sources goes by the name skurk and works at one of Microsoft’s partners. (so you can keep track of future rumors and leaks).

Just very recently, Microsoft told its partners that they will be receiving Windows 7 RTM by September 2009. The reason for the delay is because developers and partners are currently unsatisfied with the builds. No specific reasons were given other than that there are still quite a few bugs. If the schedule does not change, Windows 7 will likely be released in November.

A few days ago, InformationWeek reported a Microsoft Windows OEM Manager saying that the company is planning additional major announcements around the time it releases Windows 7 RC, which is in May. Our sources did not tell us if this was the announcement.

As of yesterday, Build 7105 was compiled with the build string 6.1.7105.0.winmain.090404-1235.
The current schedule stands as this:

  • April 2009 for the RC escrow
  • May 2009 for the public release of Windows 7 RC
  • Windows 7 RTM for September 2009
  • Windows 7 to be released no later than January 2010

On an interesting note, the roadmap wzor.net presented earlier also stated that Windows 7 would be presented at “ITForum” at the beginning of November 2009. Could this be the release date? Perhaps we’ll find out when Microsoft delivers their announcement around the release date of the Release Candidate.

Can’t wait for it to be leaked. :)

“Windows 7 Center has been notified by two reliable sources that the dates have changed.”

Just who were your “reliable sources”?

    • Al says:

He chose to go by the name of skurk. We will see if he is reliable in the future (which I am sure he will be). The other source does not want to be identified.

    • S.K.U.R.K. says:

I work at a close partner of MS =)

      • Shiggity says:

If you’re truly a partner with MS, aren’t you risking losing your job making such announcements?

      • S.K.U.R.K. says:

I’m not worried at all. Everyone at the company knows everything about the road map and isn’t shy about it.

  3. JurgenDoe says:

Can’t wait of the leak :w00t:

  4. kirlm says:

    what is the RC escrow???

    • S.K.U.R.K. says:

      It’s an internal Build.
Normally this isn’t leaked, but something’s telling me MS WANTS the builds to leak.

      • kirlm says:

so the RC escrow enventually will be the public RC?

      • Al says:

it’ll be public… on torrent sites lol

      • S.K.U.R.K. says:

        Nope; it’s an INTERNAL build.

But they’ll probably leak it onto torrent sites, yes.

The public RC is dated for.. may, I think.

        Right, Al? :P

      • Robinson64 says:

I hate torrents. They are unreliable and they are unreliably slow especially with my 768k speed, while I download at about 100 kbps.

  5. Shiggity says:

Isn’t an RTM technically a GM / Golden Master? Also, will the build 7000 key still be valid?

  6. McJuel says:

In Danish Skurk means villain or bad guy. Think about that for a while.
Anyway, I am looking forward to the RTM.

  7. Espero que se filtre alguna de todas las build que andan por la red

  8. A friend of a friend who's sister... says:

Lies. All lies. Here’s a hint – build 7105 doesn’t exist. Yet. So how informed can your source be?

  9. jetoo says:

    build 7105 does exist.

  11. bgbdbill67 says:

All leaks thus far are intentional. How do you get something you want tested done fast? Tell people your getting something you shouldn’t have and it spreads like wildfire.Hide the buttons that say reporting back to Microsoft and everyone feels safe, yet every so called illegal copy is reporting back everything I call it extreme testing. If I’m wrong why else would all the keys work with all the builds???? “Also let all the hackers hack it to hell then you can see where to beef up protection”

  12. bgbdbill67 says:

Yes but if you tell people not to look at the gorgeous naked person walking on the beach, they are going to do exactly that.

its better if they have everyone testing it, besides makes the system alot better, I remember the Beta 2 version of Vista I used to have and was kind of stable but buggy, the final version was still buggy. although the new SP2 has fixed alot of problems in Vista. although Windows 7 is a lot better, I think Microsoft have improved alot with the performance and compatibility issues. although it Windows 7 will not install one driver for my graphics ! which sucks. I do think it should work in the new build which I got now….gotta test it out.
