On the heels of an incredibly popular Beta 1 release of Windows 7, we haven’t stopped looking ahead. Projections for Windows 7 RC1 and RTM shipments have been made. If all goes well, millions around the world will get a juicy gift just in time for the holidays.
Hints from all over the web point to a general RTM date near Christmas of 2009. Releasing it around that time would be extremely advantageous in terms of revenue, it could generate a lot more hype than usual, and the potential for sales on the following Boxing Day, makes it the prime time to ship Windows 7.
Excerpts from a translated version of a Swedish Microsoft Partner Blog post yesterday afternoon reveal some more enticing hints:
Early in April, after CeBIT, the RC.
RTM and launch company as it stands right now Q3 2009 … The cut of all internal guesses here at the office right now is October 3 at 11.10
That blog is on the official MSDN Blog network, thus making it quite trustworthy. Microsoft seems to be making an attempt to meet those release dates; whether or not they do, is another story.
