Windows 7 Pre-Beta Update to improve reliability of external NTFS drives

Windows 7 Pre Beta Update to improve reliability of external NTFS drives

Microsoft recently issued an update (KB958456) to improve the reliability and operation of external NTFS drives. I’ve been using an external hard drive with Windows 7 for almost a month now and it functioned the same way as an internal NTFS drive. Even if you didn’t experience any hiccups, I would recommend updating through Windows Update anyway. The cause and issue isn’t specifically stated, so “improving reliability” may mean preventing data loss that might have happened before to some other users.

This is the second update Microsoft has issued for Windows 7 Pre-Beta, following the previous security patch issued just over a month ago.
