Looks like the United Kingdom won’t be affected by the strange Windows 7 pricing scheme set in the European Union. After much investigation thanks to CNet, it seems like full editions of Windows 7 will be offered in the UK for half of its American counterparts. It’s important to note that Amazon UK had said that the pricing on their website was “indefinite.”
On Amazon UK, a full edition of Windows 7 Home Premium costs £64 or $105 USD while the same item in the US costs $200. It also costs less than the upgrade edition in the US, which sells for $120 USD. Windows 7 Professional sells for £150 or $250 USD, which is still slightly lower than the retail price of $299 in the US.
Another major UK retailer called Play.com is selling the product at £75 or $125 USD, which is slightly more expensive than Amazon but still much lower than American prices.
These prices are for the full edition of Windows 7 in Europe that will feature a browser ballot screen. Microsoft announced earlier this month that they will no longer offer Windows 7 E in Europe.

I’m sorry but this is complete bullsh*t. If you know more you would know that the british pound is drastically low at the moment.
In other terms, for British people the price is thesame as it is for the American people.
Microsoft was right.
The euro is still the most stable currency and that’s why it costs more than the american dollars or the british pounds.

Well that certainly makes a nice change. XP and Vista both cost twice the price in the UK than they did in the US. Fair dues, I’d say.
I have been able to pre order windows 7 professional edition for £90 lol, so even cheaper than most of the others
Actually Amazon.co.uk are selling Windows 7 Home Premium for £125 not the stated £64. And thats a reduced price from £149. This puts the item at $7 more than the $200 US price. So UK customers are still having to pay more, even if its only $7 more than the US price it’s still a sh*t load more than the price stated in this article.

How would you UK folk like to pay triple the the USA price? Thats what we have to pay in OZ. After 25 yrs of M$ dictating my PC’s use etc, am joining the Apple Mac fraternity, where their latest upgrade cost a staggering AU$39, thats right, 39 OZ Dollars.
