Number in the bottom right hand corner indicates the number of unread messages
Gmail Notifier Plus rests in the new Windows 7 taskbar and allows you to easily access several components of Gmail quickly. The app uses Gmail’s secured RSS feed to retrieve mail. The notifier has two major features that make it a good implementation into the new taskbar.

Login screen lets you set how often to check for new messages

Right clicking on the Gmail Notifier Plus icon will bring up a jumplist that lists your most recent unread messages. A counter is shown at the top but the jumplist only allows for 10 maximum titles to be displayed. Below are some common tasks that increase productivity.

This is my favorite feature of the notifier. If you hover your cursor over the icon, it will activate thumbnail previews that show an excerpt of your unread mail. The app makes great use of the thumbnail feature to display other alerts as well.

Note that the application is only at version 1.0, and may contain some bugs. Providing feedback will probably help the programmer to improve on the app.

Great. But is there a way to choose which icon collapse(like this one) or expand ? Cause I don’t want to have a small icon of my Firefox for example. But Gmail Notifier is quite important, it should be callapsed…
What do you mean by collapse and expand?
Right-click on Win button => properties => taskbar => taskbar button => always combine or not
Is there a way to Mark As Read and archive from the notifier itself?
This would be so useful because sometimes you see mail which you know about and are ready to mark as read and archive, but dont want to open up the web browser.
Indeed, it would be great !
The iGoogle Gmail gadget already have this feature, and it’s very usefull.
i tried it and it doesn’t seem to be supporting Google Apps
it thought my account is username@example.com@gmail.com, lol
plaintext password, yummy
Support for Labels would be great. I use a lot of filters and archive all my mails automatically. None of the Gmail checkers for Windows supports this (Gmailcheck for Linux does…). So I never see new mails because they are already archived.
doesnt work it
it works well, except i dont get the new mail count on the icon, i am unable to tell if i have new mail just by looking at it. issue #2, when i have more then 1 new email the left and right arrows do not change the email im looking at.
am i installing it wrong or is that a bug?
OK, after more testing, the new email count does not work when “use small icons” is selected in the taskbar and start menu properties, it works whit normal icons.
I got the problem today.
Although, the app still notified my incomming emails but I need to type the password again everytime when going to Inbox.
I guess google updates and does not allow access the gmail through plain text username&password.
Anyone has the similar problem with me ?
Same here. Always worked, but Google seems to have changed something in the logon procedure…
A good Free Cross platform Gmail notifier (windows xp, windows vista, windows 7, mac os, linux) with cool animations http://home.b2labs.com/b2-gmail-notifier-freeware-animated-gmail-notifier
cool but when i click “Go to your inbox” it start firefox to a url with my password as clear text in it…and that’s not cool.
Guys,
There is a problem when you have following situation: private email on the gmail and company email on the google apps. Then, when you’re trying to work with app’s account via this plugin it opens the private gmail account instead. Could it be fixed?
Thanks,
Hi
Im using windows 7 x64
I downloaded gmail notifier, started but i dont get any notify about new mails. Its always write “no new mail” if i go to refresh nothing hapend. Any1 know what can be a problem?
Hi, great application.
I just think that difference between have and not have mail is not explicit enough, can you change the color of the icon (blue not unread mail and red unread mail) or play a sound. Many times i have new mail and I did not realize.
cheers
For those of you having the password hassle when clicking “compose mail” or “go to your inbox”, there is an alternative/solution to this problem. Note: This only applies to firefox users
1. Download “Redirector” firefox plus in and install it
2. Copy the url appear on firefox after clicking either “compose mail” or “go to your inbox” in gmail notifier plus
3. Open Redirector option
4. Click Add
5. Under include pattern, paste the url copied copied above
6. Under Redirect to, copy and paste “http://www.gmail.com/”
7. Click ok
8. Now whenever you click on “compose mail” or “go to your inbox,” the redirector will redirect you to your gmail account without typing your password =D.

I’ve tried your suggestion above and many others, but gmail notifier still won’t log me in when I open compose mail or go to your inbox.
It always sends me to a blank gmail login page.
The original gmail notifier does the same thing.
It checks my mail fine and notifies me but it won’t log me into my mailbox.
Running a fresh install of windows 7 x64
Sorry typo. It’s plug in not plus in xD
Thanks for the Jason. Only one problem, when I click on Compose Mail, I’m not directed to my inbox. Funny thing is that Gmail Notifier Plus 1.0 worked just fine for both going to my inbox and composing an email without the need for the Redirector plugin.
Great little app. Only problem is, it asks for login on each attempt to see my inbox or compose mail. Also, i couldnt see new mail count. Dunno why.
Thanks.
I found your site while browsing on google for xBox Live and saw a few of your other pieces too. I’ve just added you to my yahoo rss Reader. Just wanted to say” keep up the good work” and congrats on a job well done! thumbsup from me
How do I uninstall?
Thanks a lot for this fantastic tool. It will be perfect if the notify number could be larger or smarter.

Hi,
Thank you so much for this application.
I was wondering if there is a similar application for checking yahoo mail.
Thanks.
for some reason i can’t open the jumplist when rightclicking on the icon. (Windows 7×64)
You can get the newer version 2.1.2 here http://www.mediafire.com/?4jgkyzdy3k0
I just downloaded it and noticed that it still has the problem that there is no indication of new emails when using with small icons.
Is there any chance that this get fixed?
Thanks
çalışıcakmı bakıcaz… Windows 7 x64 ile…
Does it only show the incoming mails if I go above the icon with the cursor? It doesnt alert me right at the moment when it gets the mail… And some sound would also be great.
How do you uninstall this program?
