Windows 7 Build 7025 Screenshots Leaked

We’ve posted a few leaked build screenshots in our forums but haven’t made any official posts on the blog because usually they look exactly just like build 7000. However, the build 7025 screenshots leaked from PCBeta reveal quite a bit including a Windows 7 versions list, new taskbar modifications, and IE 8.

Windows 7 Versions:

The first screenshot reveals 5 different SKUs for Windows 7: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate. The previously rumored Professional edition doesn’t seem to be listed. (Click on screenshots for full size)

Quick Launch toolbar:

Edit: The quick launch bar can easily be added with a registry tweak. The user who posted these images most likely did the registry tweak themselves.

Either we’re all making good use of the Send Feedback button or Microsoft is paying attention to the flurry of Quick Launch toolbar and Show Desktop button tweaks circulating. Many have adapted to the new taskbar and find it more efficient than the old one, but there are also many who can’t accept the new change. Perhaps this had Microsoft worrying about their taskbar. Here you’ll see the new quick launch toolbar along with a show desktop button.

Internet Explorer 8 RC1:

Microsoft said they would deliver one RC before releasing the final version of IE8 and here it is. Unfortunately it cannot be installed on Windows 7 Beta (build 7000.) The RC build is said to include new “compatibility-mode functionality.” Compatibility mode is used for websites that cannot be displayed properly under the default IE8 envrionment and automatically activates when you visit a website that matches against Microsoft’s list of heavily-trafficked websites.

Control Panel Organization:
A minor addition allows you to change Control Panel icon size in All Items view.

Paint and Windows Media Player seem to have been updated as well judging from their version numbers. No obvious changes in the screenshots though.
