Windows 7 Build 6801 Leaked by Winbeta

Windows 7 Build 6801 Leaked by WinbetaSooner or later, we all knew that the pre-beta Windows 7 32-Bit Build 6801 handed out to the thousands of developers that attended PDC would eventually be leaked online. In less than day, WinBeta has already leaked Windows 7 and has a torrent going on at multiple torrent sites . The file is 2.75GB in size and already has over 2000+ leechers going at it.

Earlier, a poster on Neowin claiming he had found out how to obtain Windows 7 Build 6933 set off a false alarm for tech geeks everywhere trying to get their hands on the newest Windows 7 Build possible. Other false torrents containing Conquer & Command instead but named Windows 7 Build 6801 have been spreading around as well.

To clarify on one thing, there’s virtually no way you’re going to be able to get your hands on Build 6933 for now because it was never distributed to anyone. Build 6933 was used for Microsoft’s presentations of Windows 7, and a similar or newer build will probably be distributed as a public beta sometime this December.

I can see why Microsoft chose to only hand Windows 7 Pre-Beta out to PDC attendees but with P2P technology and faster Internet speeds, I don’t see why Microsoft should have any closed betas anymore.
