A few days ago, we received some rather unusual news about Windows 7 from an interview CNET UK had with Microsoft executive Bill Veghte, who seemed to be implying that the OS will not be released in 2009 as expected.
There are a few things that seem a bit unusual at this point. First, the Windows 7 Upgrade program kicks in during July 1st. Usually these programs begin just a few days before a new operating system is released. For Windows Vista, the upgrade program began two weeks before the RTM date.
Secondly, Ed Bott from ZDNet took a careful analysis at the Windows 7 EULA again and noticed a very important line,
When the Beta expires on August 1, 2009, you’ll need to reinstall a released version of Windows to keep using your computer.
A released version? The kind of wording used here would be quite weird if they were referring to Vista. Perhaps because Windows 7 would be released by then?

I don’t think so, actually. I think it was just not a prefect way of saying what he wanted to say.
Yeah, you can’t assume based on wording, especially with Microsoft.
I remember everyone freaked out when Bill Gates accidentally called the Whistler project
“Windows 2003″, thinking that meant Windows Whistler wouldn’t be released until 2003. We all know Windows XP actually was released in 2001!
Whatever the release date is, they have to make sure they get Windows 7 out before Snow Leopard so the hype is focused on them and not Apple this time
It means you will have to reinatall a retail version of windows such as XP or Vista. If WIndows & is out by then, then you will have to reinstall or upgrade to the full release version.
Another awesome note is that I tested the upgrade tool for Windows 7 from Windows Vista Ultimate. I did not have to reinstall my applications, they are all still installed!!!
*reinstall*
*Windows 7*
not necessarily. WGA is a lot more lenient or I guess (nicer to customers) in Windows 7, but not sure if the changes that were outlined recently apply to build 7000

Well it’s final, Microsoft has announced the release to be in August ’09.
RTM is expected to hit that date but not GA
