
Rafael from WithinWindows has an interesting article documenting the evolution of the Windows Taskbar since Milestone 1. As expected, Rafael found his own ways to unlock these hidden taskbars through the registry. It’s interesting to see how drastic the changes are at each milestone. Do you think Microsoft stopped at the right taskbar or did it need more work?

I think that the Start icon in the earliest versions with the beveled edges looks the best.
I also liked the number indicating the number of tabs/windows that were open for that individual program or at the very least the option to turn then on or off.
The current slices affect is just as useful but maybe not as obvious to new users.
they should have not made the things at the right side pop up they shuda made them like vista or better but not pop up and i liked the number beside the windows open but besides that yep
the 2nd one looks pretty cool with the number of pages you have up and the vista like icon
This guy missed one. I found a website that shows one more version of the Superbar, that was better than any of the 3 above.
