Microsoft will NOT have 20 editions of Windows 7

Contrary to what many people might have heard, Microsoft will NOT ship 20 editions of Windows 7. Boingboing released a fake Microsoft ad featuring 20 different editions of Windows 7, but some missed the (j/k) in the title and took it all too seriously.

My favourite is the one shown above because when I first saw it, I had missed the (j/k) too and believed it. And of course, you can only imagine how difficult it would be for some non-techy to choose a copy.

You can see the other 14 editions here.

Although they won’t release 20 different editions, we can expect them to release a similar product line to what was seen with Vista. From the leaked photos, it’s quite evident that there’s already going to be a Windows 7 Ultimate.
