Windows 7 Beta Official Download now up and running

After a 22-hour delay in the Windows 7 Beta launch, Microsoft has finally fixed their server problems and have uploaded the official download link along with activation keys on their official website.
But in order to download, you must be using IE and install an Active X Plugin AND download a Download Manager. If you want to use Firefox/Chrome/Safari to get the download or JUST the activation key, check out this post.
If you want to download the ISO too, you’ll need to run Internet Explorer, download the ActiveX Plugin, and download a Download Manager (allows you to pause and resume) in order to download the ISO.

Can (or WILL) anyone confirm this release is the same as the one that’s been on the torrent sites for a few days? The version number is exactly the same. A friend has one of those, and if it is that will save the time to download such a big file. He says the bit count is the same, but he hasn’t done any MD5 or CRC checks.
@Bassoonigator, I’m at 65% right now, the speed is at around 620kb/s so slightly slower than what I was downloading from those direct links earlier before I switched over to using the download manager. How can I do a check?
@chrono, just did an md5 check for you mate and they are – to my surprise – identical

I don’t know. I tried the link that’s in the “How to download Windows 7 Beta NOW and get an activation key” you’ll find at the top of this site, but it won’t even load- it just sits there and whirls! It looks like the entire world finally woke up and has started hitting the sites, so you are really doing quite well. At least you’re getting some action. :-\
Regardless of what they say, it’s probably better to get your KEY first and THEN try for a download; the downloads may take time, but at least they aren’t limited in number like
the keys are supposed to be. Are you doing 32 or 64 bits? That could also make a difference, from what I’m told.

Hi all,
After I download the ISO file directly from Microsoft website, I tried to install it inside both VMware, and MS Virtual PC 2007, But each time installation reach 1% and I got error telling me can’t copy files.
error-code is 0×80070570.
I googled the net all what I saw talk about that downloaded ISO file is corrupted.
I check downloaded file for checksum and I got different one !!! although its size is identical to the one at MS site.
I measured the size of downloaded ISO in BYTE to avoid rounding errors while calculating.
Any suggestions other than re downloading ISO file ?

@Redwan Al-Bougha, My suggestion isn’t the one you want. But when you download it again, I would suggest downloading through IE using the Active X Plugin and their download manager, perhaps that’s what keeps the download stable since a couple of people here seemed to say the download would drop from a direct link. Something must’ve went wrong with your download unfortunately

But from a pure technical view, it’s doesn’t make any difference when download using the standard method.
@Redwan Al-Bougha, There IS one important difference… it WORKS, unlike the one you now have! I had a devil of a time downloading the 32-bit file, but once I got it with the Download manager, it installed without any problems. Good luck.

I think that i dont purchase Windows and use Linux in the next time.
Looks like they’ve closed the downloads for good. You’ll have to resort to Method 2 unfortunately.

You should use IE, else nothing’ll happen. I’m currently downloading Windows 7 using IE browser.
