We managed to get our hands on specific details on what features each SKU will have for Windows 7. Despite much criticism, Microsoft is sticking to the 3 concurrent program limit for Windows 7 Starter. Major
differences between Home Premium and Professional include the ability to join a domain, host a remote desktop session, encrypt files, and do an advanced backup. Windows 7 Ultimate will basically be Windows 7 Enterprise but for personal use.

Just same as Windows Vista except windows Se7en basic getting Live thumbnail preveiws.
Vista also had live thumbnail previews.
Yes, but Vista HOME BASIC didn’t.
He was saying that that’s different that they would put liuve thumbnails in 7 Home Basic
Hussain Naufal Nasir, was making a comparison on the “basic” version, which does not have live thumbnail preview in Vista.
This is crap! Why do they have to release 5 different versions!? This is ridiculous! OS X is only $120 and it has all the features you need. I’m drifting from being a PC to Linux. URR! I’m furious.
Only the Professional and Home Premium versions will be released general retail. Ultimate/Basic/Starter/Enterprise you won’t normally find on the shelves, so really, there are only 2 main versions which you can buy.
Nice!!! There’s no information like this in any other site, great!
they need to go back to how XP was 2 at the most. Stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is two – Professional and Home Premium. They are the only versions which are being released to general retail. All the other versions are either provided by OEMs or through special promotions.
There were six editions of XP:
Home
Pro
Media Center
Tablet
Fundamentals
Starter
Just because you never saw most of them, it doesn’t mean they never existed.
haha .. if microsoft cheating? Patch Win 7 so that your Windows 7 become Ultimate!
WMC on Win7 Professional? WTF?? I have Vista Business and there is no Windows Media Center!
What about Windows Fax and Scan? It’s not listed in the table. It was missing from Vista Home Basic and Premium. Interesting that they don’t consider it a feature anymore. It IS there in Windows 7 Ultimate, at least.
