  1. Helton says:

Not working for me here… HTTP 404.

    Anyone’s getting it?

    • Al says:

Works fine, downloading as we speak

      • shane says:

the link takes me to the Beta product key page…

      • shane says:

Oh got it! Got to click the link under the two main ones.

        thanks Al

      • Al says:

Right click the link, click on copy location, put it in your address bar and tap Enter.

That’s basically how you do it but I’m not going to make a public announcement about it or anything. MS Pulled it to keep the load even and I don’t want to ruin their plans. But a few extra dls won’t hurt :P

      • shane says:

        thanks man

    • Mairead says:

I’m trying to download windows 7, 32-bit version, it directs me to microsoft.com download page, but does nothing from there. It just has a green spinning circle in the page and goes no further… any advice please? I’m dying to try it out!

  2. shane says:

I am just being directed to the beta page…not RC yet that I can see

    • Al says:

Just updated this page with direct links for those who are having trouble.

The RC page looks very similar to the beta page. Also try pressing Shift + F5 or clearing your cache

  3. Helton says:

Duh, ActiveX failed to run… running IE8 under W7 beta.

  4. Helton says:

Is there a direct link already 4 64-bit English version? This way I can use my own download manager…

    • Al says:

Direct Links posted. Run them in Firefox and they won’t even bother you about getting a download manager

  5. shane says:

I am not getting the RC page, just the beta page.
Can someone post me a link?

  6. Helton says:

    Thank youuuuuu!

  7. Byron says:

    It was pulled

  8. shane says:

    How about the 32?

  9. Helton says:

    yay! downloading fine for my 2Mbit connection… 210 KB/s, 4 hours to go…

  10. Al says:

    I’m getting 630KB/S on my 10mbit connection, 1 hour to go :P

  11. Winterwolf says:

Not, working for me either, i get directed to the old beta page myself like shane is. Tried clearing cash and using firefox. Maybe microsoft temporarily put it up for testing. sorta a pre check before they put it up for good.

  12. daniel says:

    Hey.. at this site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx

They said “The Windows 7 RC will be available May 5, and you’ll be able to download it from this site through July.”

    ????????

    • Al says:

This page is being regularly updated with new links as we get them. New links from Technet have just been added

  13. Mike V. says:

It just says “Cannot connect to server. Anyone else get this?

  14. Mike V. says:

Now it says, “The file has been changed on the server.” Any help?

  15. Winterwolf says:

well i did click on the bottom link that was posted here a bit ago and it took me to the windows 7 rc download page. I entered in my email and password and it took me straight to the download page, where it downloaded and installed a download manager, gave me my activation key, and its downloading now at an incredible fast rate. At the speed its going ill have it downloaded in about 15 min.

  16. Mike V. says:

All these errors I’m getting are within the download manager.

  17. Winterwolf says:

It seems to be up again. here is the link.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx

  18. Mike V. says:

Could it be because I’m doing it in firefox?

  19. jakelights says:

not working lol,. redirecting to their official website.,

    • jakelights says:

ignore my post please,. everything works fine for me now, ive tried the alt link,. thank you windows7center! more power…

  20. spookie says:

you guys rock!!! downloading 64bit rc1 from alt. tech link above as we speak..396kbs!! less then 2 hours to go!

  21. Al says:

Technet link works fine guys. I guess I’ll put some asterisks beside it xD

  22. Umi says:

    Donwloading at 1MB/s ^^”

    • Al says:

What kind of monstrous Internet plan are you on =o?

      • Winterwolf says:

Im almost done with the download. I got about 15% left to go. wow, of all the times comcast has crashed on me and as slow as it usually is, This is crazy fast. for once they do something right but im holding my breath because it would not surprise me if in a few minutes the damn power will go out like it allways does when something important pops up.

      • Al says:

        I just went from 600kb/s to 1kb/s

      • Umi says:

        10mb of download ;)

      • shane says:

agreed. Where did you get that internet?

  23. Sly says:

So… I can only get mine to download incredibly slowly as a regular download in google chrome.

In firefox it opens the download manager, but keeps on saying that the download has an error. And in ie 8, it just goes to an active x page.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

  24. jakelights says:

    working great on tchnet,.

  25. Sly says:

nah… resetting ie didn’t help. I just see “please wait while the download manager starts your download.” but nothing happens.

    • Al says:

That’s odd, if I use firefox, I wait a bit and the usual download screen will pop out and ask me if I want to open or run. Maybe try IE and install the manager?

But I’m running Firefox 3.5b4 and no manager required

      • Winterwolf says:

Hmm I just got onto my office computer running vista, went straight to the website, downloaded the manager and as soon as the download manager came up it started downloading right away. what kind of connection are you on? DSL, Cable? The last thing I can think of is restart your pc, as well as the modem and everything and try again.

  26. Sly says:

    google chrome says 6 hours…

    maybe i’ll just torrent it.

Anyone else have any tips to get the download to work faster?

  27. Umi says:

The links up there are to download it with the download manager until you enter on them with google chrome and maybe safari for windows.

to get the direct links just put “/dl/” before “/download/” on the links.

    Example:

    x64 rc1 direct link
    http://wb.dlservice.microsoft.com/dl/download/release/windows7/e/b/5/eb58e76e-17fa-409b-855f-11fbe84d1c93/7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd.iso?lcid=1033&RURL=https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-rc-64/enus/

  28. Overflo says:

I just tried… Not working. I think they pulled it from the server.

  29. Sly says:

i got cable… i think my download is just messed up. i can get the download manager to open in ffx and ie 32. but it says the file size doesn’t match and just restarts 1000 times. No idea how to get it to give me a new link though.

  30. Winterwolf says:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx
All you guys have to do is visit this link.
I dont understand why anyone is having trouble, I checked this with all 3 computers in my home, 1 desktop running vista, 1 laptop running vista, and another laptop running windows 7. Tried both IE 7 And IE 8 and everyone of them took me to that page, I entered in the email address of mine, and it started the download manager which started downloading the RC right away. The only 2 things I can think of to why you guys are having trouble is for 1 your IE or other browser is screwed up by having something enabled or disabled on it, or 2, your Internet connection is very slow or is having problems.

  31. Sly says:

ok… i finally got a download to work. Here’s what i had to do.

I’m running win 7 7057 64X. I had to open up IE 32 after clearing all ie settings, then go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx and once I let the active X install it was all good.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but I hope that helps if you run into a similar problem.

    • Winterwolf says:

ok right on glad you got it working. If anyone else needs any help, feel free to give me an IM at my Windows live Address i posted above. Thanks

  32. Sly says:

    thanks for the help guys.

  33. Shiggity says:

…so this is 7100 right? or is it a different build….

    • Jason says:

This one is exactly the same as the one I downloaded from bit torrent on April 24. I checked MD5, they are same.

  34. Winterwolf says:

Well, I have finaly Downloaded the RC from the Microsoft website, And am Currently Installing it. I will post the build number for you shiggity as soon as it is installed, And If anyone wants me to post a screen shot, just tell my how to post them and i will be glad to.

  35. Sly says:

it says 7100 in the download. My download is 7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd.iso

  36. Sly says:

btw… why are all the icon dudes grumpy. Not a smile in the bunch

    • Winterwolf says:

i dunno I dont even know how to change it. I am even subscribed to the forums on here and i can’t figure out how to post here as who i am in the forums, with my wolf icon etc. Is it possible to log in as your forum username and post here using it?

  37. Winterwolf says:

Ok I have the RC Installed, And the desktop up and running. For some of you who still had questions about the build, yes, it is Evaluation copy build 7100.

  38. Ruby says:

The x86 and the English language link are actually pointing to the x64 version. Ended up downloading a 3 gig image I can’t use. :(

  39. steve30x says:

Im downloading at 1.9mb/s+ Thanks for the links al

  40. Kevin says:

Freezing at 99% saying it is corrupt! Damn!

  41. mitchd2100 says:

Just finished getting the 32bit from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx?ITPID=sprblog at 1.36mb/s, and it took 39mins…

  42. Bill Mitchell says:

I as well just completed the entire download only to learn that the .iso is corrupted. How the heck do you get corrupted downloads from M$? I thought that was just a torrent thing?

  43. Helton says:

Speed’s fluctuating too much! I’m downloading it for more than 4 hours and it’s still 73% (2,24 GB)…

  44. John says:

    Downloading as we speak.
It’s going to be 3 hours for me…*sobs*

  45. Al says:

Have the servers stablized now? Surprisingly I haven’t heard of any crashes, just unstableness

  46. Helton says:

Does anyone have MD5 for 64-bit English? Really would like to check it before burning to a DVD…

    • Al says:

Did you download from Microsoft? If you did there’s no reason to check, it’s legit for sure. But here are the hashes:

      x64: 98341AF35655137966E382C4FEAA282D
      x86: 8867C13330F56A93944BCD46DCD73590

  51. Brian says:

I click download and it brings me to the site to login, and then it takes me to a site where a little green circle just goes around and around. It never gives me anything else…help?

  52. Kyle says:

Is the RC even worth downloading?

Im just asking because I dont want to have to backup all my data, and have to re-install a couple of programs. just for a rough copy of an OS.

could someone please enlighten me who has already installed and played around with it

Also, if anyone has tested any video games, that did not work with vista, could they please shed some light?

    Thank You
    Kyle

    • Al says:

Are you on Windows 7 at all? If you are still on the Beta, then you definitely need to jump on the RC.

It’s hard to tell you if it’s worth downloading since I am the founder of this blog so my answer will be biased. To give a safe answer, I would say download this if you are curious about computers, not a complete “newbie” for lack of a better word, and want to check out Windows 7. Downloading the RC is the only legit way of trying Windows 7 without breaking any laws and the download is not going to be up forever.

As far as games go, I heard there were some issues with Gameguard (Maplestory or Nexon Games). There are also issues with some punkbuster games such as Cod4. This is mainly due to the companies’ inaction to update their software.
