i could care less if they add 7000 new themes, bring back dreamscene and redesign every icon. that’s all useless fluff to me.
    does nothing for productivity.

now full row select, every explorer window opening the same size, removing the “invert selection” menu option all cause lost production. i’m constantly resizing windows,a) to view content, b) tobe able to copy files and c)generally change the way i work with the os.

these were all changes for the worst, in my opinion, i could care less what the desktop looks like. it doesn’t make me more productive, make me any more money in my job or make it any easier to complete tasks.

I barely noticed some of the changes you listed there. Isn’t full row select done using shift key? There was invert selection? Lol can’t believe I never saw that one. The window size has been bothering me a bit. I also hate how it doesn’t save your preference when you want it to say, view small icons, later on one application might break that rule for some reason and view large icons again.

Really good powerpoint and you are dead on with the full row select. I’ve found myself dragging the window larger on many ocassions to copy a file properly.

I can’t believe something as important and simple as this still hasn’t changed, perhaps it was intended.

Perhaps you should post your powerpoing here and we can discuss further in the forums =)

they changed it on purpose. i’m guessing they couldn’t fix some of the issues with explorer in vista, so they said the hell with it and just did it this way, which really sucks as far as i’m concerned. all of these items have been around for over a decade.

now they decide to change them. at least in vista there was a reg hack for the full row select. disabled that for some reason. disabled the reg hack for placing the ie icon on the desktop, too. but they add themes and this other fluff which is a loss of productivity, for the oooh, ahhh factor. who cares?
usabilty studies? un-usability studies, i think.

Well judging from the posts on the e7 blog it seems like they do a lot of statistics tracking.

I’m just hoping that the statistics show people prefer to copy stuff directly into their folder like that instead of copying to the folder they already have open…

I don’t see why not implement both, I don’t think it’d be that confusing either.

And I agree there should at least be a reg hack for the more advanced users, just like there are reg hacks to decrease hover time for the superbar and so on. Perhaps we’ll see them in the RC.

However, seeing that they’re already occupied with wallpapers and themes and such, looks like they’re pretty much finished…unfortunately =(
