So does this sort of debunk that rumor Dell had about Windows 7 costing too much? Or was Dell only speaking of the non upgrade price because that's the price I'm looking for. I have a 32-bit vista disc and would like to go to 64-bit so an upgrade install is out of question.

not that it matters, because everybody using this site already knows the release date, but there was a typo because of the line break

"The memo also explains how, if you bought a PC between June 26th, 2009 and October 2nd, 2009 (Windows 7 release date), you are eligible for a free update to Windows 7, "

because of the line break it says october 2nd instead of october 22nd, like it should

Personally I would wait until a DX11 video card is included. The RTM will support DX11 so why not get a graphics card that supports it.

Once the DX11 models are available the DX10 models will drop like a rock.

If you're planning on some playtime with Virtual PC and XP Mode a CPU that supports virtualization is required and only the top few versions of Windows 7 will support XP mode.

If you don't build your own wait until you can buy your next PC with your OS of choice installed with working drivers and related software.

The last bullet point is hilarious. Have you guys seen how much they charge to install a stick of RAM?
