    Black Screen of Death

I have my computer set up with a dual boot with XP and Win 7. I have been using Win 7 with no problems for months now until I installed WinDVD. The computer froze so I rebooted and nothing but problems since. I would get the black screen of death with just the white cursor showing. The XP partition is working fine. I ran a hardware test and no errors came up. Tried to do a rollback but that didn't help. Problem now is I reinstalled Win 7 into what I thought was the right partition. But now when I look into my computer instead of the hard drives showing C for the XP partition and H for the Win 7, it has just C for the Win 7 part. When I go back to XP it shows the way it used to. Have I lost all the files on the Win 7 partition by reinstalling? I do not see them.

For what you are saying I believe the you don't have the Black Screen problem anymore, but in case you (or anyone else) have, read and try this:

And about the partitions letter thing... it is normal that they have different letters on each system (XP, Seven..). Try to recognice your partitons between both systems viewing their labels or their sizes and not their letters.

check for a windows.old on your win 7 partition. everything from the pold install would have been put in there.
