    winamp keeps asking for permission

    Hi, i have the latest winamp version installed and everytime i want to open it, it asks for permission to modify the computer, i click yes and opens perfectly but it is kind of anoying. What can it be? Thanks

    I have Winamp (my favorite) and it has no such problem. That's very peculiar... Do you have the application set to automatically update? What happens if you move it out of program files (if it's installed there)?

    That happens only if Winamp tries to modify some files -> requires admin privileges -> UAC prompt. Shouldn't be happening all the time though...

    use foobar2000 instead, it's better anyway xD

    I have the same problem. Every time you open an M3U, enqueue an MP3... windows UAC asks for permission to continue. I don't want to turn off UAC, and I'd rather not give up on my music player of like 6 years.

    The OP is confused. As the first person to reply suggested, the OP is referring to UAC. I also suffer from this (if I enqueue 10 tracks , I get 10 prompts). There has to be a way to disable UAC for specific programs rather than all programs at once?

    Hi guys. I was also annoyed by that. In fact you just have to uncheck in settings :

    General settings > file types > Restore file associations at start

    This feature need OS administrator rights.
