Thread: No aero taskbar color change.

  1. #1

    No aero taskbar color change.

Does anyone know how to successfully change the taskbar on a pc without aero? I tried a tweak but it made windows explorer unable to open and I had to restore my backup with command prompt.

Not sure. Never ran into that problem. Get a new video card that supports aero. You will love it.

I'm probably going to buy a new pc when windows 7 officially comes out. I found that the taskbar files arebin aero.msstyles but I'm not sure the exact images.

If your trying to enable Aero there are a couple of things you could try.

    1. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/0...ble-aero-peek/

    2. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/0...-in-windows-7/

    Hope this helps.

My gfx card doesn't support aero as it's about 3 years old and my pc is about 5. The last link is basically what I tried before (uxtheme patch>patches msstyles.) but it left my computer unable to open explored. The website doesn't really tell you how to patch it yourself for other colors or even tell you which files are patched inside the msstyles.

When you tried to patch before, what patch versions were you using. If you patch with the wrong version it will cause explorer to fail.

If your running 7127, the patches you apply must have the same version number.

If you need i can modify the patches to work on 7127.

If you mean the uxtheme patch then yes I got a build 7127 patch.
It isn't the uxtheme patch that causes the explorer glitch it's the aero.msstyles patch.

    Yes i know.

Which aero.msstyles patch are you using, one you downloaded or one you modified, and what version is it.

These i have modified and tested, works perfectly for replacement basic style.
*Note Only works when taskbar in bottom position*

These are modified for use with Windows 7 7127

Run the universal theme patcher x86 or x64.

Relace your aero.msstyles with the downloaded one, reboot and you should see this. (Basic Theme)

Let us know if it works ok for you.

    Your Aero.msstyles works for me!

I checked the previous version of the aero.msstyles I tried to replace and it was at 7000. Can you tell me how or show me how to make it black to match my wallpaper?

You will need restorator or similar program to edit the aero.msstyles, its complitcated to explain as there are various images which need changing in the image folder.
It may be easier if i create a black version for you to download, as i already have the resources extracted.
