I saw in this driverheaven forum thread many people had problems with various ATI cards and how they fixed the drivers.

In post #33 the poster got his x1400 to work as did others with different ATI products.

» Possible fix for 9.2 and later

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions. Turns out my card and driver were working. After some research I found the X1400 has 256Mb memory....sort of. I was duped into thinking it had 256Mb of dedicated video memory. Turns out that's not the case. It only has 128Mb dedicated and uses "Hyper" memory (system memory) for the other 128Mb making the advertised memory "256Mb". Windows 7 x64 build 7600 comes with the driver necessary for the X1400.

use the hotfix driver link i supplied in the previous thread and manually install the 3650 driver and install the control centre after that and you will be racing.
Catalyst AGP Hotfix - Radeon HD 3000 and Radeon HD 2000 Series AGP products

This driver has the mobility driver included in it.I have the 3650HD Agp card and i installed it manualy with the rtm and noticed that the mobility driver is there also.

Just select the vista one eg 32 or 64 and install it on the appropiate win7 install EG win7 RC or the RTM

Well, the solution of GophaKyorselv works very well, there's only one issue: Does the transparency of the taskbar and windows work for you with this solution? Here on my Alienware Notebook it doesent, taskbar is just "strange gray-blue" and not transparent :| the funny thing is -> with the desktopapplets, transparency works fine. Can someone help me with this?

    Thanks!

So here I was stuck a couple of days without video drivers. I did some digging and I found the solution.

    - Download the attached file. Extract to somewhere simple, for example: C:\DRIVERTEMP\
    - Run devmgmt.msc
    - Expand (+) Display Adapters
    - Right Click on Standard VGA Adapter
    - Click on Update Driver Software
    - Click on Browse my computer for driver software
    - Browse to where you extracted the RAR file ( ex: C:\DRIVERTEMP\ )
    - Ensure Include Subfolders is checked.
    - Click Next
    - Windows does its thing, Prompts for Restart. Do so.
    - Enjoy. I'm still deprecated to a 3.7 on the Windows Experience Index based on the Display Adapter score, but whaddya gonna do?

I included the 32-bit drivers in addition to the 64-bit drivers, in case x86 users are also experiencing the same problems.

Man, thanks so much. I've been searching the web all day looking for this mess. I've got a inspiron 6400 with the x1400 on it. I installed the vista drivers that I had for x86 and they worked, but I got the blue screen of death every time I had to reboot or shutdown (due to the ati2 dll file). Hopefully this will fix the issue though... thanks again.

EDIT: ** This worked perfectly, wow.... you're awesome. Thank you for taking the time to post this because honestly I was pulling my hair out about it. I searched everywhere online and couldn't find that driver. YOU DA MAN CLIFFORD FRANKLIN!!! ;)**
