In case you did not already realize you can download a full trial copy of Windows 7 Enterprise edition for a 90 day trial from Microsoft. Windows 7 Enterprise Edition is a full version and is virtual the same as Windows 7 Ultimate edition therefore it has all the feature you could possibly want. This is a really good way to check out Windows 7 features before committing to buying copy. Well the the good new is that Microsoft have now extended the trial period.

”This means you now have till Dec 31st, 2010 to download and evaluate the trial version.”

The trial version of Windows 7 is limited to 90 days at the end of which it will start the hourly reboot (spiral of death).

You can Download you free copy of Windows 7 Enterprise Trial edition from here Springboard Series on TechNet right now.

The final Windows 7 RTM build ended up being 7600.16385. No we didn’t forget about 7600.16385′s leak. The build was first leaked last week by the Chinese from PCBeta, who distributed it in three separate RAR files containing the installation files for the OS. Fans later took these files, compiled it into a bootable ISO, and redistributed it via P2P. Microsoft promised it’s OEM partners that they would receive the final RTM ISO on July 24th. The ones who get their hands on the untouched ISO first will be leaking it to the thousands of hungry fans that want the real deal from Microsoft.

Zukonka, who has leaked numerous development builds in the past, is the source of the final RTM untouched ISO leak. The torrent has been leaked to P2P sites. This should come as no surprise to Microsoft, as builds have been leaking regularly during the development of Windows 7.

Hashes can be used to identify whether your image has been modified. The ISO Verifier by Long Zheng is a good tool to check ISOs, or Hash Tab, which places a tab for hash checking in a tab under a file’s Properties.

Just a day later and Windows 7 Build 7229 has been leaked in 32-bit and 64-bit editions after being distributed to TAP Gold Partners and via Connect. The build can be found on popular P2P sites. Language packs for the build have also been uploaded by leakers. There’s a lot of hype behind this build because it is said by Wzor to be the final build to be distributed externally via Connect before the RTM. This means this will probably be the last leak we will be seeing before RTM (Release to Manufacturing.) As with the previous builds, this build was leaked by Zukonka, who is a trusted leaker.

We’ve received reports that the original Beta and RC keys do not activate with this build. It is not recommended to upgrade if you wish to keep your build activated.

Our forum admin David has confirmed that RC keys do indeed work. Here are a few for activation. It doesn’t matter which one you use since they all work. You can also get them from the Microsoft Windows 7 website.

Russian site Wzor reports that build 6.1.7229.0.winmain.090604-1901 is expected to be distributed sometime between June 10th and June 15th. Builds compiled after 7229 will be RTM candidate builds and will no longer be distributed to partners. Perhaps we won’t be seeing any leaks for a while.

There is also a changelog leaking around. As stated before, changes made to builds after the RC are mostly related to bug fixes and increased compatibility. It is highly unlikely we will be seeing any UI or dramatic changes. Here’s the changelog circulating around for those interested:

1. Changes in the mechanism for displaying thumbnails in the taskbar.

2. Pop-Up lists for the panel

3. Pop-Up lists for Remote Desktop

4. Applying the settings of the taskbar

5. Multitouch zoom

6. Invert selection

7. You can search for music by artist

8. View the contents of the search results

9. Intelligent indexing after installation

10. Reducing the length of playback sounds system

11. Changes in the panel Devices and Printers

12. Changes in the mechanism of extraction devices

13. Support for FireWire-cameras

14. Reduction in section in system

15. Improved driver support

16. Reducing the paging file

17. Assigning a letter to boot with two OS loaded

18. Naming the section reserved for the system.

According to Russian site Wzor, sometime between June 10th and June 15th, the last build handed out to corporate partners will be distributed. The build will be 6.1.7229.0.winmain.090604-1901. After this only RTM candidate builds will be compiled. None of these builds will be distributed externally to partners.

Microsoft previously announced that the RTM was scheduled for mid to late July. Neowin is reporting that if the build quality of the RTM candidate builds are very high, there’s even a possibility that we will be seeing the RTM by the end of June.

%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Ringtones

My tastes seem to agree with Zheng’s, since I found Ringtone 1 and 2 to be my favorites as well:

Ringtone 1 – Download MP3 format, M4R (iPhone)

Zheng extracted all ten ringtones and converted them in compatible formats for convenience. You can download them from here.
Blogsdna also put a RAR file with all ten ringtones, each in .m4r and .mp3 format, which you can download on Mediafire.

Update: Confirmed to be legitimate. Sukonka is a trusted uploader.

Just a week after the last leak of Build 7137, Windows 7 Build 7201 leaks today and can be found on major BitTorrent networks. This build is one build after the much talked about RC2 build of 7200, now known as the IDX (Internal Developer Client and Server) milestone. A tweet from Microsoft Netherlands employee Ruud de Jonge a couple hours ago confirms the existence of a Build 7201.The build was compiled on June 1st, and is only three days old. Wzor originally reported that Windows 7 Build 7200 would be distributed via Connect to Subscribers and TAP Partners on June 11th.

Like with past builds, this build was leaked by Sukonka again from torrents.ru. Sukonka has been known to be a legitimate and trusted leaker of Windows 7 build.

Gmail Notifier Plus rests in the new Windows 7 taskbar and allows you to easily access several components of Gmail quickly. The app uses Gmail’s secured RSS feed to retrieve mail. The notifier has two major features that make it a good implementation into the new taskbar.

Login screen lets you set how often to check for new messages

Jumplist Access:

Right clicking on the Gmail Notifier Plus icon will bring up a jumplist that lists your most recent unread messages. A counter is shown at the top but the jumplist only allows for 10 maximum titles to be displayed. Below are some common tasks that increase productivity.

Message Preview:

This is my favorite feature of the notifier. If you hover your cursor over the icon, it will activate thumbnail previews that show an excerpt of your unread mail. The app makes great use of the thumbnail feature to display other alerts as well.

Note that the application is only at version 1.0, and may contain some bugs. Providing feedback will probably help the programmer to improve on the app.

Windows 7 Build 7137 just leaked today after almost two weeks since Build 7127 leaked. This is the second build leak since Windows 7 Release Candidate (Build 7100.) Like the past few post-beta builds, this build was also leaked by Zukonka. Zukonka has been known to be a long-time legitimate leaker. It has been said that this build is so new that it has yet to be distributed to TAP Gold partners. The build has been verified as a legit leak.

As expected, the rumored changelog that a lot of us saw is not true. This build looks just like the RC. Changes most likely lie in improved compatibility and bug fixing now that Windows 7 is post-RC. Below are the official hashes for the image. Make sure to check the hash of your image with a tool such as MD5Checker to ensure that your image has not been tampered with in any way.

According to Brandon LeBlanc (an employee at Microsoft), Windows 7 users will be receiving 10 updates to verify if Windows Update is working the way it should:

Starting this Tuesday (May 12th) we will release up to ten test updates to PCs running the Windows 7 RC in order to verify our ability to deliver and manage updating of Windows 7 in certain real-life scenarios. These updates do not deliver any new features or fixes. This is the second set of test updates we’ve released to test the updating mechanism for Windows 7 – the first set were released on February 24. For more information, see this post on the Microsoft Update Blog.

This is almost exactly the same as the previous test updates on February 24th, they do not introduce any new features or fixes and are just verifying that Windows Update works. One update will test a new update notification feature, though. Some updates will automatically be installed, some will not. Windows 7 will prompt you before installing this update and provide you with more information about it. The new update notification feature provides detailed information about any available updates that need to be installed manually

For the updates that don’t install automatically, you will have to manually open Windows Update and install them. As said by Bandon LeBlanc, the updates will be released to all Windows 7 users running the RC client (build 7100) on May 12th, 2009.
